Dmitri Kessel, Crucifix in Cordoba, 1952
For many years Dmitri Kessel (1902–1995) worked as a photographer for Life Magazine, where he started as a war correspondent. In the mid-1950s Kessel documented religious European architecture and photographed, among others, the San Marco Cathedral in Venice and the Vatican in Rome. During that same period Kessel made Crucifix in Cordoba (1952), a photograph that was selected for the 1961 exhibition of Photography in the Fine Arts.
