An extraordinary and unique daguerreotype (whole plate, 8 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches) to commemorate Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre who was born on this day, 232 years ago, in 1787.

S. D. (Samuel Dwight) Humphrey was the editor and publisher of the Daguerreian Journal, it was published semi-monthly, from 311 Broadway, in New York.
