Although Brett Weston (1911-1993), the son of noted photographer Edward Weston, specialized in nature and landscape photography, he took some gorgeous photographs of New York while living there in the mid-1940s. Weston exemplified the modernist aesthetic with his preference for sharp lenses and beautifully rendered black and white prints. His often-abstract photographs seek to the express the mysteries of familiar things.
