Man’s Best Friend

Robert Capa, [Sitting volunteer and dog, farewell ceremony for the International Brigades, Les Masies, Spain], October 25, 1938

One day, while sorting through some boxes of Robert Capa’s photographs of the Spanish Civil WarI came across an image of a seated soldier with a dog sleeping at his feet. Unlike most of the other photographs, this one seemed to elicit a sense of calm, urging me to reflect on man’s best friend: dog.
