Uranium Robots

Les Krims, Untitled, from the Uranium Robots series, 1976

Buffalo-based photographer Les Krims held a robot suit building contest in 1976, which was inspired by Japanese toy robots and cartoons he saw when he visited the country two years earlier. In the resulting series of photographs, Uranium Robots, each robot is standing in the same corner of the room, an otherworldly space invader trapped in a quotidian classroom.
