Frozen Margarita

Matthias Vriens, Frozen Margarita, 2007

Dutch photographer Matthias Vriens is a multi-talented artist who seems to succeed in everything he puts his mind to. After breaking his leg and giving up a career as a ballet dancer, Vriens set up a successful antique store. In a spectacular rise he went on to become the chief editor of fashion magazine Dutch, Giorgio Armani’s art director, and senior art director of the Gucci Group. Ready for a new challenge, he changed his focus to photography and in the period of a year-and-a-half, he became an influential fashion photographer, working for The New York Times, The Face, Vanity Fair, and Vogue, among others. According to Vriens, his photography is “very close to my fascination with people, the flirting, the sexual approach. Be it a boy or a girl, I’m always making sexy images.”
