An imminent auction of parts of old Paris (some of the highlights include steps from the Eiffel Tower, a newspaper stand, a wooden telephone box, a pair of wooden Metro seats, a urinal, and a piece of dried bread on cardboard with an inscription: “Historic souvenir of 1870–1871”) reminded us of some of Eugene Atget’s photos of old Paris.
