George W. Dixson, Liberal, MO., 1907-18 (2007.107.160)
Atheist George H. Walser founded Liberal, Missouri, in 1880 as a town free of churches. Walser and his followers attempted to keep Christians out of town but the believers purchased land adjacent to Liberal and began proselytizing. This postcard may have been distributed as evidence of the Christians’ conversion success in the area.
